Welcome to Paint Horse Paradise

Jim and Mary Cerny established Rhinestone Ranch, LLC in 1995, but there have been horses on the farm since 1948.  The ranch is located in Northwestern Indiana, about 75 miles east of Chicago at the bottom of Lake Michigan, halfway between LaPorte and Walkerton, Indiana.  Over the past 30+ years we have bred and trained many different breeds of horses. We decided to put all of our efforts into the Paint Horse Industry because of the rising popularity of the Paint Horse and the outstanding Youth and Amateur Programs it offers.

We began our Paint Breeding program with APHA Champion and Honor Roll Stallion Rhinestone Robin.   Rhinestone was followed by The Scotchmeister, an own son of The Scotchman.  We have many broodmares and young horses on the farm.

Jim Cerny was born in Chicago and raised in Hinsdale, Illinois.  Jim has lived in Walkerton since 1971 when he graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors Degree in Economics, Agriculture Economics and Business Administration.  Jim has had ponies or horses all his life.   He enjoyed them so much when he was young, that he decided to make a career out of training and riding horses.  Currently, his days consist of training, helping clients and handling the stallions.  Mary Cerny was born in Paris , Illinois and moved to Indiana at the age of 5 where she graduated from Danville High School .  She got her first pony when she was 10 and moved up to horses soon after.  After 10 years in 4-H, she began showing on the Appaloosa circuit.

Jim and Mary were married in April of 1971 and Mary moved to the farm, where they have raised their three children and countless horses.
